The first place we visited as we crossed the border to Ecuador was Vilcabamba. A tiny village with a giant personality and a wide variety of people from all over the world. Vilcabamba and it’s biggest annual festival will be covered in our next blog post. This time it’s all about permaculture and a video project we did for a couple of cool ex hippies in their sixties we shared a house with. They sold their properties in Colorado and Hawaii and came to Ecuador to fulfill their dream of living as one with the nature. The purpose of their work is to create a model of sustainable living for this climate and culture while following the permaculture ethics (care of the earth and people and accepting the limits to population and consumption). The model is such that the house that they are building will in the end melt back into the earth completely. Take a look at what they have to say about it.
Even though we were limited with time and budget we are very proud of our first project of this kind. Let’s hope more people will be inspired with their example in the future so our beautiful planet stays beautiful and humans improve the quality of their life.
